Isla Canela is actually a little island although only separated some metres from inland by some sea branches which rise or descend following the tidal regime.

BY CAR

Isla Canela is now perfectly linked with Huelva and Sevilla and obviously with the rest of Spain by a new fast highway. This road crosses the Guadiana River and also head to Portugal ending up finally close to Lagos, in West Algarve region.

BY AIR

Isla Canela is located reasonably close to Faro International Airport (40 minutes by car or taxi). The majority of main european airlines fly to Faro Rent a car companies are also well represented. These are some of the airlines that are currently connecting Faro with other european cities:

There is a railway line until Vila Real with portuguese railway system but it has no connection over the Guadiana River with Spain. Spanish Renfe get to Huelva. From there you necessarily will have to get a taxi or a bus ride to arrive to Ayamonte.

BY BUS

There are several bus lines that run from Sevilla to Huelva, stop in Ayamonte and then head to the Algarve. You can get further info at Sevilla Plaza de Armas Bus Station or at Huelva Bus Station.
